Engineering Project Updates
MOOSE JAW - With the unseasonably warm weather recently experienced, City Engineering has had the opportunity to continue on with a number of projects. Drivers and pedestrians are reminded to respect all posted signage to ensure worker and public safety.
- Water Main Replacement – Fairford Street & 2nd Avenue to 3rd Avenue NE
City crews are working primarily in the intersection of 3rd & Fairford. Work is expected to continue for at least another week.
- Cast Iron Water Main Replacement
The intersection of River Street and 3rd Avenue NW is now closed. Replacement and tie-ins within this intersection are scheduled to occur over the next few days. Concrete restoration will begin on River Street soon. This is the last site of Phase 1 of the cast iron water main replacement project.
- East Feeder Repair – Main Street South
The pipe repair is complete and pressure testing is being conducted today. The next step involves the installation of concrete thrust blocks around the repair. Expected date of completion is November 24th.
- Main & Thatcher
The shaping of the north ditch is expected to be completed this week. Paint marking and signage are also expected to be completed this week with the project being wrapped up by this weekend.
- Sidewalk work – near Walter Scott building
A partial traffic light is scheduled to be installed today, with the arm installation in 2 weeks. Paving stone placement is 50% complete. Patch paving on Main Street in the area and street light installation is to be completed this week. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November.
- Home Street West – Storm Sewer Replacement
Work started last week at Maple Street and will extend up the hill towards Home Street over the next month. The project involves replacement and upsizing of the storm sewer and replacing the cast iron water main. The expected completion date of this project is Dec 31, 2016.
