News Release – Public Consultation
MOOSE JAW – The City of Moose Jaw will be holding a public consultation in relation to two separate issues impacting residences that exist in the Avenues south of Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
The narrow streets in that area have created a situation whereby emergency vehicles are unable to navigate the streets, producing an unsafe situation for residents on those streets.
Also, the City does not own or have legal access to some back lanes in which the City currently picks up waste in this area, creating a potential liability situation if the City continues to operate in privately-owned lanes.
The City is seeking the public’s input on these two issues and will be holding two public consultation sessions.
Wednesday, September 16 – 6 to 8 p.m. Macoun Lounge at Saskatchewan Polytechnic
Thursday, September 17 – 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Macoun Lounge at Saskatchewan Polytechnic
Those on hand to answer questions and for discussion include:
- City staff
- Emergency personnel representatives
- Representatives from Saskatchewan Polytechnic
Residents living in the area to be impacted by any potential changes will be receiving a letter in the mail over the next two weeks.
These sessions will be drop-in style. Come any time, gather information, speak to representatives from various agencies, and fill out a feedback form.
The City will be gathering feedback and preferences of residents who attend and providing that information in a report to City Council along with a recommendation. Ultimately, City Council will decide the direction the City will take in these matters.
