Phase 1 of Cast Iron Water Main Replacement Project Continues on Schedule
MOOSE JAW - Phase 1 of the City’s Cast Iron Water Main Replacement Project is nearing completion on the first street of the project – 8th Avenue NW (across from Elgin Park).
Thirteen properties are involved in this first portion of the project and service connections and road work are expected to be completed within the next few weeks.
The next sites for the project will be 9th Avenue NW (Edmonton Street to Francis Street) and then 4th Avenue (Athabasca to Hochelaga). The City has been in communication with property owners in these areas via phone and direct mail.
The deadline for all Phase 1 residents to submit agreements to City Engineering is June 30, 2016. Those who have not yet submitted agreements to City Engineering have been contacted via mail and direct mail inviting them to attend a final information session. This will be the last session held for Phase 1 property owners.
Property owners who have already submitted their agreements to the City are now being contacted to arrange contractor site visits to verify service connections and provide estimates for work chosen. If you are involved in Phase 1, have submitted your agreement and will be away on holidays this summer, please call Tasha in Engineering at 306-694-4448 to set up a meeting with the contractor.
As with all projects, safety comes first. City Engineering reminds residents and children to stay a safe distance from equipment and to slow down when passing crews. Pedestrians and drivers are asked to obey barricades and detour signs to ensure safety of workers in the area.
