Firefighting - A Career For You


For those qualified, dedicated and highly motivated individuals who would be interested in a career in Firefighting, the requirements are as follows:
  • you must be in excellent physical condition
  • have successfully completed Grade12 or G.E.D. equivalency
  • be a graduate of a recognized training institution that provides physical and job related testing and certifies graduates with National Fire Protection Association 1001 Firefighter - Levels I and II with International Fire Service Accredited Congress Certification
  • have a Saskatchewan Emergency Medical Technician (or equivalent) and a C.P.R. Level C Certificate
  • possess a valid driver's license and provide a current driver's abstract
  • be able to pass a medical examination
  • have 20/30 uncorrected vision (glasses and contact lenses not permitted),with normal color vision and normal hearing
  • have the ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment
  • have no criminal record
  • related training and experience would be an asset.
Firefighter recruitment is handled through the Personnel Department at City Hall. Positions are advertised on this Website, in the local newspaper and through recognized training institutions. Applications for the position of Firefighter are only accepted during an open competition period.
