Under the Municipal Engineering Division, the major branches are Building, Drafting, Transportation Engineering and Equipment Fleet. This Division is responsible for the delivery of Engineering Designs/ Construction related to subdivision and Major Capital Projects, Environmental Management, Transportation Engineering and the operation & maintenance of Equipment Fleet etc. In addition, this Division is responsible for issuance of Building Permits, review and approval of Business Licenses, and Inspection for compliance with Code as well as long term planning studies.
The Building Branch is responsible for the receipt, review and issuance of Building Permits, review and approval of Business Licenses, Inspections of construction for compliance with Code, and the enforcement of Municipal Bylaws.
The Drafting Branch is responsible for drafting drawings for new subdivision and capital projects, zoning bylaw, traffic signage, underground utilities etc. As-built drawings for all projects, zoning maps, utility maps, property maps, traffic maps, building plans are maintained in Drafting Branch. Services related to maps and drawings for public and other departments of the City are provided from Drafting Branch.
The Equipment Fleet Branch is responsible for the management, maintenance and repair of the City’s equipment fleet. The City of Moose Jaw possesses about 400 pieces of minor and major equipment.
In addition the Municipal Engineering Division is responsible for;
Municipal Engineering deals with Transportation Engineering. Any concerns related to Traffic/Parking are received and reviewed. Transportation Services Advisory Committee is the advisory board for resolving those concerns.
The Department is in the process of Developing a Transportation Master Plan.
Engineering, Construction and Project Management of all major capital projects of the City are ensured by Municipal Engineering division.
