Uncle Mickey is gone now, quite a few years ago. John Hunchuk is gone now too, about 10 years ago. Both worked the Railway. I was born in Calgary but moved home to M J in '60 and was raised in M J until we moved to Chilliwack in about '68. My folks moved back to the Jaw a few years ago and I still get back for visits now and then. I love the friendly feel of this town. Walk down the street and people all say "Hello", or stop when a funeral procession goes by and remove their hats or put their hands on their hearts. Very moving and friendly. The parades in this town are so cool, very intimate almost, old cars and trucks and machinery, candy throwing, very homey. I remember learning to swim at the "Nat", being chased by a protective swan in Crescent Park, the exhibition and the A&W. Thanks for the great memories. Family names include Newman (Bill & Marge), Hunchuk (John and Marjorie), Schulties, Owens, Eaves.

I was born in Moosejaw to Garth Armour & Marilyn Panser Armour in 1960. We left when I was 3. My father worked on the railroad with my Grandfather, Elgin Armour - last lived on High Street, I think. He passed away in 1976. Was wondering if any of the old timers, (Mickey Hunchuck - spelling me be wrong) were still around ...

My father John J. Smith and his identical twin brother James F. Smith were born in Moose Jaw around 1921. They were both in the air force, Jim was killed in Europe. I never knew their parents, they could have owned an insurance company in the city. I know my grandmother was a Gallant but that's about it. Did anyone know that family and if I have any relatives still there? I'd really appreciate any info. Thanks, Judy

James Hochban: I was doing some M.J. research for the novel I am writing and just happened on this website. WOW! Couldn't believe it when I saw your name and that you were looking for me! Havn't been back to M.J. since '74. Haven't heard from Karen in 13 yrs. I had no idea you worked at CHAB. Rick and I lived in Saskatoon for 3 years. Parted. Moved to Toronto in '69 until '85. Mom and dad followed in '74 after marriage #2.(10 yrs) Mom lives in C'ford. Dad died in '01. Met current spouse in '83. Guess you could say this prairie rose is a late bloomer! We have 2 beautiful kids: Michelle, 24, in College & Mike,18, working on his GED. Michelle and I graduated Highschool together in '04! I'm taking Loyalist College courses in Creative Writing, belong to a Writer's Group and am working on a novel with a M.J.setting. Many vivid trips down M. J's memory lane. You've been with me on a few, singing & dancing to the 60's Teen Tempo! Do you still write poetry? I do. Been here 12 yrs. Life's good in C'ford. Hope you are, too. RSVP. Best Wishes, Martha.

Finally got to visit Moose Jaw! Was there in July 09. My son earned his wings in the military. I lived in Moose Jaw until 1969. Attended Bushell Park. Took piano lessons from Mrs Chant. Visited the public library every Saturday morning. Camped at Buffalo Pound Lake. Loved the return visit - it was wonderful remembering and walking the same area I had as a kid. Moose Jaw is great!!!

Traveled with Sully mostly, and STILL ALIVE ! LOVED goin' to Temples (STILL pissed that they tore it down!) Few beers at the Grant Hall, or the Cecil, Willard, etc. Exchange Cafe after Temples...! Love to talk to anyone from those days... (The cops new Sully & me quite well too).

Lived on the air base in Moose Jaw from 1957 to 1963. Went to the base public school from K to Grade 5 inclusive. Just thinking yesterday that K was 50 years ago. Lots of good memories and home movies. Went to the library every Saturday morning. Glad to see it is still there as well as the park. Remember the Queen's visit in 59. Left Moose Jaw in 1961, but never really left - how can you, it keeps pulling you back. Mother was Martha of Martha's Coffee Bar at 9th Ave NW at Caribou, in fact we just interred her ashes at Rosedale this past weekend. Pauline and I have been to MJ dozens of times over the years, and will keep returning to see friends, so long as the bones hold out. Devlin twins - would love to hear from you, Aud is in Niagara Falls, ON. Would be great to hear from alumni from William Grayson (1946 to mid 50s) or CCI (I grad in 1957) or Tech.

Hi, I recently visited Moose Jaw briefly on business, seems a really nice friendly place. My grandmother had relations who moved to Moose Jaw to farm probably back in the 1940s and retired to Penticton BC in the mid 1970s. Never had a house address for them so could not follow up, just an old photograph. Fred and Winnie Farrow were their names. Any clues to their original location would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to trace Morley Bennett, born in or around Moose Jaw, probably 1920-25. He was the son of Walter Bennett born 1890 in Rauceby, Lincolnshire, UK. Walter emigrated to Canada and joined the Canadian Mounties, writing home to his English family from Moose Jaw. I remember the excitement when food parcels came from Walter during WW2 to help us out. During WW2 Morley Bennett served in the CAF in the UK, and was under orders from his father to visit his English relatives. He called on my great granny, his aunt - Ada Emily Bennett Edenbrow, by then living in Bradford, Yorkshire, UK. He was aged about 19 at that time. Can anyone in Moose Jaw remember the Bennett family? Please email if you can help me fill in this part of my ancestry. Thank you.

My Grandmother (Katherine Meeds) worked in the hospital in Prince Albert where she took care of a little girl with menningitis by the name of Emma Feats (not sure of spelling). The time period is approx. between 1952 to 1962 - she's not exactly sure. When the girl was about two year old, she was sent to Moose Jaw to the "Hospital for Incurables" (as Grandma called it). My Grandmother just turned 99 a week ago and she still thinks about this little girl who she was so fond of and wonders (with a tear in her eye) what became of her. Does anyone know? Did she get better? Was she finally able to walk, talk, etc.? Where is she now? I would appreciate any information I can relay to her.

I grew up in Moose Jaw and most of my family still live there. I went to Victoria school from grade one to six then William Grayson for seven and eight. Then Tech. Some memories are of playing in crescent park and sliding at at the gully near 3rd ave and athabasca. Also of riding our bikes to river park and spending an entire day playing on the hills. And many more. I am always interested to hear where classmates are now located. There is something about Moose Jaw that kind of grabs you. I lived there only two years, about 59 to 61, because my dad was in the air force there, I went to the air force school one year and then to Riverview. I never lived on the base so I got a feel for the town. I am finally making a visit there this summer and I can't wait to see what has changed and more interestingly, what remains of the Moose Jaw that I remember.

I was born in Moose Jaw in the mid '50's. We lived at 1017 Hastings Street, on south hill. Elementary schooling was at Westmount, Empire (grades 7 & 8), then Peacock High. Our family moved away in October, 1970. I still think of certain friends from Moose Jaw, regret losing touch - would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.

We believe My great Aunt Margret Loveridge nee Brown arrived in Moosejaw in about 1912 following her husband Arthur who we believe arrived sometime in 1908/9 over from The Forrest of Dean, in the South of Wales. He set up a homestead nr MJ and lived there through to his death after he retire we believe his son took over the homestead. I suppose I have little hope that anyone will know of the family but if they did I would be fascinated to hear from you. I did pass through your city in 1984 without this knowledge perhaps I would have stayed a while should I have realised! my best to you whom ever you may be

Awesome website!! I moved to Moose Jaw in the summer of 1963 after my dad was transferred to MJ. We live in almost every corner of the city waiting to get into the PMQ's at Bushell Park. Oh the memories that I still recall from being an Air Force brat. I have always wondered what has happened to the childhood friends - John & Janice Ring,Grant Haynes,Lori McGale,Judith Johnson,Darwin Precoor, etc etc.I left Moose Jaw in the mid 80's and have been back off and on over the years. My step brothers were born in MJ and they went to RVCI while I went to Peacock High. Always liked the years I spent in MJ,seems it slowly attaches itself to you if you let it, then its hard to leave. Anyways if anyone remembers me I'd like to hear from them

Dear citizens of Moose Jaw, In the summer of 1973 my husband and I lived in Moose Jaw. He was in service of the Dutch AirForce being trained in the Canadian AirForce. There were quite a few of Dutchies in Moose Jaw those years. All for the same reason. We lived 1041 Mainstreet North. It was a large home, and each floor had its own tenants. The house had balconies on the first and second floors. If anyone has a picture of this home I would love to see it. One day I hope to go back to Moose Jaw to visit. We live now in the USA. So, it's not that far away. There were many, many helpful people in Moose Jaw. I will remember their friendliness forever.

I was born and grew up in Moose Jaw, starting school at William Grayson but best remember the old neighborhood and friends in the 200 block River east. Bob Larmour, Bob and Maxine Mackenzie, Pen Wong; also other pals from Victoria School -- Bob Vogel, John McWilliams. Lots of good times -- jumping off the railway tresle hugging an inner tube to splash in the river on a hot summer day, and stuffing ourselves into truck tires to roll down the snowy embankment in winter! I even remember the big flood -- the creek overflowed Crescent Park, and a pal and I liberated a canoe from the club there and paddled down second avenue as the flood surge headed for the river, waving at my folks on the other side of the sandbags as our canoe sped by. Enough ... graduated from Central Collegiate in '59 and often wonder what happened to friends like Teddy Hilts, Jim McNab, and great teachers like Mr. Valgaardson and Miss Fullerton. Like many, I couldn't wait to get out of the old home town after graduation; worked for a bank, headed for university, got into journalism (Times Herald, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Prince George). Moose jaw scarcely entered my mind over all those years, but a visit back three years ago triggered many great memories; it was so wonderful to find many of the old haunts and landmarks still there after 45 years! My wife Donna, born and raised in Prince George, was blown away by the friendliness of the people and the wonderful architecture and facilities in the city. It was a great place to live as I grew up, and it looks so good now that we'll be back in late May to scout around for a retirement home!

A note to James Hochban. Did you ever find out if there were tapes made by CHAB of Teen Tempo and if any are available? I used to attend and model clothes on the show for Simpson's Sears in the early to mid '60's. It would be great to be able to see some of them. As I recall, they were all live feeds and those on the show were not able to see it. It was a great place to be on a Saturday afternoon!! Anyway, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Many Thanks! Hi, Wonder if anyone could find out any information on a Harry Abbott who arrived in Moose Jaw 1910 or maybe a bit earlier. He died 4th March 1916 and is buried in Hillside Cemetary, Medicine Hat, I think. The reason I am trying to find out any information on him is because he left a whole family in England and I can't find any trace of relatives that lived in Canada, so wonder why he left never to return. Any scrap of information on him would be brilliant. Chloe

Dad (Max Hopper) was a chef in the RCAF and was posted to Moose Jaw in 1954. I was 8, 9 and 10. We lived at the North Hill Apartments on 1st Ave NW over a gas station. Went to King George (Grades 4 and 5). Looking for Tommy Myers, Marg Curry, Mary Devlin, all schoolmates and neighbours on 1st Ave. Also Valdene Orthner, and Catherine Lewry (sp?), whose dad was mayor in the 50s. I had really long braids on arrival, but had them cut off and went all curly for a while. LOVED roller skating at Temple Gardens, swimming at "The Nat," and reading every book in the children's section of the library downtown. Loved its gorgeous gardens. Anybody remember me?

October 22,2007 Great Guest book. having spent more than 50 years in Moose Jaw, I guess it isn't surprising that I still refer to Moose Jaw as my home town. This summer while visiting the Spa gift shop I bought the book Mid-Air Moose Jaw by Larry Shaak. Boy does that bring back a flood of memory. @ exactly 10:02:30 April 8, 1954 I was in a grade 8 class room at Alexandra School. We heard a loud noise and looked out the window to see debris and what we later learned to be bodies, falling from an air crash over the golf course. The book is a must read for anyone that has any interest in Moose Jaw. I would be interested to hear from anyone that might have been in the same grade 8 class in 1954. As I remember there were 2 classes, one was students that had moved from William Grayson and the one I was in was the original Alex. students. I attended K through 8 at Alexandra.1946 to 1954. I remember riding my bike up to the golf course that day, shortly after the crash.(my family had recently moved to Alder Ave. and I knew the crash was close to home.) My most vivid memory is of a hand, presumably attached to a body covered in a sheet. the hand was visable and had drawn 4 clutch marks in the soil and was now in a fist. Knowing me as I do, I probably rode back to school right then. I have no other memory of the crash site from that day. According to the reports in the book it is commonly thought that all bodies were deceased before they hit the ground. I only hope so. Don't miss Larry's book Mid-Air Moose Jaw 2007. I have never met Larry but I do thank him for invoking memories. e mail me at garat@shaw.ca

Hi Moose Jaw. I spent 10 of the most wonderful, happy and productive years of my life in Moose Jaw and though not born there it has become my hometown too. 4 of my 5 children were born there, I spent many of those years teaching at William Grayson and Queen Elizabeth (I'd love to hear from any of my students who might remember me. I also was a 4H Homecraft leader there for nearly 10 years. Some of the highlights i remember the wonderful Band competition every year(does it still happen) The Queens visits one of which our 4H girls served her tea on the farm at Tuxford I dont get back as often as i would like but would love to hear from any neighbors on 7th Ave or Simcoe St. When we lived there the Russian thisles came rolling across 9th Ave and locked us in our house as both doors became locked with them and the same with drifting snow in the winter We always said that Moose Jawians walked leaning ahead and if the wind ever stopped everyone would fall down haha A WONDERFUL PLACE to live and visit Hope to get back soon

Moose Jaw is becoming one of my favourite getaway destinations. For a relax/re-energize couple of days, staying at the Temple Gardens, soaking in the mineral pool and eating at Nit's (probably one of the best Thai restaurants in Canada)it can't be beat. I've been there 5 times, twice as a mother daughter-daughter retreat and 3 times as a romantic getaway with my best-beloved - love it And make sure you visit the Burrowing Owl Centre

I am the daugther of the late Randy Reid. My father died in a Moosejaw jail in 1978-79. His son Scotty also died that same year age 7, as a result of drunk driving. Up until just a few years ago, I thaught I was the only living child Randy had left, followed by his four grandchildren, my offspring, until i received a call from a relative that someone was claiming to also be Randys child, and was trying to find me. My name is Michelle Chaykowski, and i live in calgary. If anyone has any information leading to my finding my missing sibling, pls email me...ty

I use to live in Moose Jaw up until 7 years ago. I still miss it terribly and think it is one of the best places in the world to raise kids. We had to move away due to the work shortages that were in Moose Jaw at the time. My parents Bob and June Mckenty still live there and they love it. When are kids a re grown and it is time for us to retire Moose Jaw is the place we want to be.

I was born in Moose Jaw in 1942 and went to Central Collegiate High School between 1959 and 1962 inclusive. I called myself by my second name Chris when I went to High School. I lived at 166 High Street East but I can't find it on Google Earth. I was wondering if there were many/any of my old high school friends still around like Paul Shankoff, Barry Shankoff, Jack Patterson (Dad owned local new car Dealer then,)Tom Johner,or anyone that remembered me there. It would be good to catch up with them, a real blast from the past. Here's hoping! Thanks, Chris Vogel.

Ah, Moose Jaw. My hometown. I was born there in 1954 and left in 1975. I went to St. Mary's, Vanier High School and Sask Tech Inst. I was sad to see the old Vanier School was gone when I visited last year. I've been collecting old Moose Jaw photos and set up a wiki site. (go to wetpaint.com and search Moose Jaw) If you have any old Moose Jaw photos that you would like to add, or comments to make, please do so!

Mom and dad are still in Moose Jaw. I was reviewing the buildings that received heritage status from City Hall - it's too bad they did not include the old Vanier High School structure. I am trying to track down Maureen Browne from Peacock High and Rupal Thakkar from Vanier. Oh - if you see Tracey Dobrescu or Doug Elder, say hello for me. Peace.

We spent the night in Moose Jaw Oct 6/06. As we walked to Nit's Thai Food during the evening, a vehicle pulled out from an alley-way turning west onto Fairford. It was dark, he did not see us, however we just waited for him to proceed, no problem. As the man was waiting at the lights, he called to us across the street, apologizing for not giving us the right of way as he did not see us. We smiled and waived, no harm done at all. What a friendly city with courteous people, the acknowledgement of us would never happen in Calgary. As for our meal at Nit's - FANTASTIC! This place should be packed every night - our waitress was friendly and very helpful making recommendations and the food was to die for. Nit's will be a regular stop on our trips to and from Regina!

I am seeking information about a Canadian aircrew named Powell whose next of kin (in 1944) was G.L.Powell, 1054, 7th Ave. N.W.Moose Jaw, Sass. He was one of a number of evaders sheltering with a member of the French Resistance in Amiens in N.France in April 1944. I have been researching escape and evasion lines in N. France on behalf of the daughter of an RAF pilot who evaded successfully and kept a scrap of paper with the names and addresses of his fellow evaders. We have been in touch with the families in France who so courageously sheltered allied aircrew.Any info. would be gratefully received.

About 20 years ago - plus or minus - I saw a romantic, fictional film entitled "Getting Married in Moose Jaw." It was a great movie with beautiful scenery and a "chick flick" plot.Basically, a well educated single woman returned home to MJ to help her aging parents run the family farm. She falls in love with a guy who works for her.I very much want a copy of this film - have looked for years w/out success. Does anyone out there know about the film and where to buy it? Thanks!

Moose Jaw-what an intriging name. I met a Moose Jawian in Palm Beach County, Florida, who was there doing volunteer work for the hurricane victims as a rep. of the Canadian Red Cross. Before moving to Toronto, I lived in Moose Jaw with my parents and sister for three years from 1951 to 1954 and have fond memories of the city - especially the Zoo, the bridge connecting South Hill with downtown, downtown itself, Crescent Park and St Andrew's United Church. I still have relatives in Moose Jaw and hope to visit my old home (I'm originally from Wood Mountain) in the not too distant future.

My husband and I were just there on July 3rd, 2006 and stayed the night in MooseJaw. We had the great opportunity to see the two Tunnel Tours. The Passage to Fortune was breath taking to say the least. The Chinese what they had to do endure in those days, the living quarters, their way of life. My heart sank right to the bottom of the pit/tunnel for these people. Mrs.. Dawson you were AWESOME to say the least. You folks have peaked my interest on this story. Your acting was terrific, also for the Chicago Connections. The comedy was great but I have to admit my heart was in the Passge to Fortune. A job well, well, well done. My husband and I thank you for the tour.

Well, my husband, the kids and I did get a chance to take a quick trip to Moose Jaw a few weeks back - Crescent Park took our breath away, and we ended up spending most of our time there, enjoying the swans and just the beauty of the park. We have nothing that compares to it here in Calgary. (At least in my opinion.) And my family loved seeing where I grew up. They loved Moose Jaw so much in fact that we have decided to move back there within the year. :o) Wish us luck!!!

Great site and an interesting read. I was born in 1939 and resided at 863 - 6th Avenue NE for most of my life. Started work with the PFRA in Moose Jaw in 1958, transferred to Regina in 1961 and then transferred to Penticton, BC in 1962 (worst mistake they ever made). Met and married a wonderful woman in Penicton in 1964 (our 42nd coming up). I/we decided we would not return to Regina. Applied for and was succesful in a job opportunity with the Province of BC. Went to Rutland (Kelowna) in 1968 and then moved to Abbostford, BC in 1970 where I am currently situated and now retired. There are so many fond memories I have of Moose Jaw there would not be enough space to fill them. I am going to return in July, 2006 and try to relive some of those memories and hopefully meet some of the folks that made them. You can take the boy out of Saskatchewan but you cannot take Saskatchewan out of the boy. I am still a "Riders" fan to the end. Anyone interested, I plan on ariving in Moose Jaw on July 5th. Call my cousin Linda Paterson that's where we will be staying. If you see my brother Al Capone tell him im coming. Congrats to the Warriors (should be the Canucks) for a great season.

Thanks to a fellow subscriber for answering a question I had about the naming of Moose Jaw, he kindly sent me some hyperlinks about your city and area. Fascinating finding out how it was named and then reading all the information on these sites. I particularly enjoyed Crescent Park, it has wonderful facilities and I am sure that all who live there can be very proud of all that has been achieved. (I learned a new word - NATATORIUM, what a shame that you can no longer use the mineral waters.) I live in Nelson, New Zealand and I feel we both share many of the pursuits and natural beaty you have. Nelson is a coatal city, with it's main industries being fishing, horticulture and tourism. I was intersted to read that you have only 100 frost free days, in our area, we would only get ( off the top of my head!) approximately 20 to 30 frosts a year, much easier to have a wider variety of plants growing year round. I have thoroughly enjoyed my trip around your region, your web sites are beatifully prepared and give one an overall view of your area. Thank you.

I am doing research on my family tree. in 1907 Sydney Fouracres (my grandmother's brother) and his family Louisa his wife and 4 children Sidney, Edward, William and James moved to Moose Jaw from England. Further children were born Louisa c 1907 and Albert c 1910 they are shown in the 1911 census as Fouracre. Does anyone have any more information on this family they can send me? Apart from my grandmother Sydney had other brothers and sisters who remained in England and I have information on the family that I would be more than willing to pass on to Canadian relatives Hoping to hear from someone soon Regards Kate

I was in MJ between the grades 7 and 11 and attended RVCI. My last year in MJ was in 1981. If we went to school together feel free to drop me a line. Lots of good memories with great friends. I've kept in touch with a few people and wouldn't mind hearing from a few more. I'm planning a trip through MJ next summer with my family - hope to meet up with some old school mates. Cheers.

I was born in Moose Jaw in 1969. My mother,Patricia Ann and father,Arthur William, raised 6 children there, mostly in the 3rd Ave. NE area. My Dad was a member of the Armed Forces then later worked in a dealership. Mom worked for Scott Ford and then later Boadway Shephard and Tiede, accountants. I went to Ross school from kindergarten until Grade 5 in 1980. Some of my teachers names there were Mrs. Pederson, Ms. Mason, Mrs. Thompson. We then moved on to BC.

I was born 1942 in Moose Jaw,my maiden name was Knipelberg.I married Barry Dolny in 1959 we had 3 girls Terry, Lori, and Rhonda. We moved to Calgary in 1968 and still live there. I went to Prince Arthur school and Tech High, I have so many memories of Moose Jaw and would not trade my growing up years for anything. I played basketball for the Tech Terriers and my brother Don played for the Tech Toilers, I had so many great friends which I will always cherish. I have been \"home\" a few times and still love it there. I have been to two \"Tech\" reunions and hope I can come to the one in July, if not I will be home again in the near future.

I should be working but was browsing when I saw the names of a couple of old high-schools Bud's. Hi, Gloria and Dave. I too return to the Jaw from time to time. I am always impressed with the city's sustainablity. It looks better now than when we were kids. I recall the wonderful hours driving up and down Main Street, eating popcron from Mike's Popcorn Stand or taking sun on the steps of Zion United Church. And those wonderful parties at Grayson's Buffalo Pound Estate along with other happenings, to wild to mention here. I'm very proud of my hometown and I'm always anxious to tell people where I grew up. It seems everyone has a Moose Jaw story or knows someone who does.

Hi all! I grew up in Moose Jaw and have tons of fond memories. I moved away 15 years ago and unfortunately have not had a chance to come back and visit; however my husband, kids and I are hoping to come for a visit this summer. I'm hoping that they fall in love with it as much as I did and perhaps we can move back there one day soon. I would love to raise my kids there. It's truly a beautiful place, and I have never stopped missing it.

In the 60's, 70's,80's, 90's, ...Moose Jaw figured in my life quite a bit....you see my grandparents lived there and I came to visit them on a regular basis. Hilda and Jack Hills were my beloved grandparents. I am now thinking of relocating to Moose Jaw with my husband David Young.....David just loves Moose Jaw. He came to Regina in the early 90's with the transfer of the Crown Life Ins Co and we lived here in Sask till the year 2000. David and I just love Moose Jaw and we would love to build a new home there as opposed to Regina

Dear reader,I'm looking for relatives of William Henry Cook. He resided at 1037 Clifton Avenue in Moose Jaw. He was the son of the late Mr.and Mrs. Ernest G. Cook, (both died in 1961 and 1955 respectively). It is possible that William had/has one brother called Donald who lived/lives in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. William was killed in action during the Second World War, to be precise : 03 February 1945. He served in the RAF (550 squadron) and flew on a bombing raid to Bottrop, Germany. A local Moose Jaw newspaper-article from that time reads that he was 19 when he was KIA, the Commonwealth War Graves Site reads that he was 26..) Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks very much ! Family Myer? I’m very interested in the ancestry research of the family line of my wife. Her family name is Meier. I was told that a part of her family immigrated to Canada in the early part of the last century. They settled at Moose Jaw. Their family name was changed from Meier then to Myer (or Myers). Mr. Myers was the brother of my wife’s grandfather Johann Meier (born January 27,1890 in Schroettersburg). I found a small paper with an address: Mr. W. Myers, 226 Saskatchewan, St. West, Moose Jaw. I believe that the letter is sent in between 1950/1960 to Germany by the descendant W.Myer. My wife remembers a visit at her family home (1955-1960) when a Canadian officer came to see his relatives. He was called uncle Reinold (Myer). He joined the Canadian army in Baden-Baden (Black Forest), South Germany. I would be very delighted if any of the relatives of the Myers could contact us at the above email address or at Hartmut Schaschke, In den Dornen 14, 76756 Bellheim, Germany.

I was born and raised in Moose Jaw, I still consider it home even though I have not been home in 3 years, I do not have family there but I still like to go home and see what has changed. I will be coming home this comming summer(2006). I will be meeting up with my best friends from highschool (Peacock) we have never lost contact, and we decided to have a bit of a reunion and we decided that Moose Jaw would be the best place for it, we plan on staying at "the spa", and checking out the tunnels of coarse this will be my third time but that is ok I love it. But we just look forward to visiting our old stomping grounds, like maybe "the Dam" and cruise main haha!!! And just catching up on all our latest news and talk about the old days. And all the crazy stuff we did, and got away with. Well anyway I look forward to coming home, and I am glad to see that I can visit Moose Jaw anytime I want with this great site and the links to my past!!!

Our youngest son left for Moose Jaw eight years ago to pursue his hockey career as a referee. He was just there to see if he could make it in the Western Hockey League as he had spent a few years in the Ontario Hockey League. Well, he made it alright and is now a referee and has found a wonderful lady whom he married in 2000 and they have given us another grandson- Kaleb Joseph. He is coach of the Special Olympics Team in Moose Jaw and a detective with the Moose Jaw Police Department. We have visited your city on four different occasions and stayed with our son at his home and at the Spa when we went for his wedding. It is a beautiful city and all we could wish, for our son and his family. We miss him lots but know he is happy and settled in his job. We are looking forward to our next visit in the spring time. My wish in life would be to spend six months in Ontario and six months in Moose Jaw. Our lives would be complete then as we miss seeing Kaleb grow up. Hello Moose Jaw - I have the fondest memories of my 'growing up' years in MJ. 1956 Gr 5 at Queen Elizabeth School, on to William Grayson for Gr 6 - 8 (Mrs. May and Mr. Snell), then Central and Tech. Roller skating at Temple Gardens, swimming at the Natatorium (sp), MJ beach and jumping off the raft, the coulee, cruising Main St.,vanilla cokes, getting pictures taken at the CP station. The glass floor in the library...just wonderful memories. If you remember going to school with Valerie Kerns...I'd love to hear from you. I will check this guest book for a familiar name.

My grandfather, James Howard, came out to Canada in the early 1900's. He was building a cabin for his family (they were still back in the UK) he fell off the roof of the partly built cabin and had to return to the UK. I have a dim recollection of the name Moose Jaw being the place he intended to settle. Can anyone help me to find sources of information which might help me to find out more about his stay in Canada? With many thanks Howard Truelove

Seabrook- Is a Moose Jaw family name -5 generations of them have lived there. Jerry and U lived there a few years in the late 60,s our 3 sons were born there. We liked Moose Jaw as a place to live and get back there to visit several times a year. It has grown and the tourist attractions are great to see, Would love to here from Moose Jaw .

Just returned home after a wonderful visit with my mother Natalie Dyok who still lives in Moose Jaw (Francis St.). I'm a Central Grad class of '68--oh, that's so long ago. The city is looking terrific these days. It was wonderful to see longtime friends who attended Queen Elizabeth Elementary school with me and even friends from the U. of S. If any more of you are out there, send along an email. I'd also be interested in getting any information about upcoming high school reunions. I know I'll be back again.

Dear Moose Javians! I was born in this beautiful city and just came back (reluctantly) from a wonderful extended long weekend back home! You truly don't appreciate what you have until you aren't there anymore - so for all of you still living in Moose Jaw...count your lucky stars! I've lived in Saskatchewan, B.C. and Alberta and nothing compares to my home town. It brought tears to my eyes to visit the old Smith farm just up from Johnstone's Auction Mart. I'm a proud member of the Matthews, Smith, Johnson, Elton, Passmore, Brandon... families and I truly miss my hometown! God Bless You All and never, ever take for granted where your roots are!

I grew up in Crane Valley, left to become a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines in Miami Jan 1, 1965. I come home every year to cook and clean for Dad while he is seeding, he will be 89 July 20th snd still farms alot of land by himself. When I am on the farm it seems like time stood still for the 40 years I have been gone, everything is the same. I have alot of good memories of when I was young and growing up,I acturally miss those days. I have a brother, Neil Brooks who still lives in Moose Jaw, plus friends from Crane Valley living in the city. I will be back next April, enjoy your summer. Lynne

What a beautiful small world! I lived outside MJ on a farm from' 69-87 when I got married and we lived "in town" for a year before moving all over. My husband John is a military man, so we got around abit. I attended Lindale and Vanier. My kids and I were able to go "back home" last summer for Vaniers 20th reunion and had a blast! Before that, it had been 4 yrs since I was "home" Too long to be sure. Most people would recognize my maiden name, as theres lots of Boans still out home. My parents, sister, gramma and tons of relatives! I played in the White Hackle Pipe Band for quite a few years as well. I wish them the best of luck with the big reunion this summer! Since I married a military man, as I said, I've lived in Ottawa (Gloucester actually), Trenton, and the "civy" life took us to Quispamsis, NB, which I saw someone else had lived too...to cool. Now we're in Barrie...loving it, but I sure miss "home" The things I miss most are, believe it or not, the sound of the crickets, grasshoppers, golden wheat blowing in the wind, and the beautiful night sky and sunsets. My biggest wish is that I could let my kids see the Northern Lights. We dont get them here...I've described them best I could to my kids, but they're undescribeable. They've seen pix of the lights, but until they SEE them, they wont understand their beauty. Anyway...thats my life in a nutshell, a transplanted prarie girl living an hour from Toronto! Best wishes, big Hi and HUGE hug to everyone\"out home"

My Grandma and Grandpa (Everett and Jessie Cline) Lived there and as a child I spent all my summers there. We lived thre from 1975-1979. My dad George Miller workd at International Harvester. It is nice to see that the town today still looks and reminds me of the town I spent my summers in. So many things in time but it is so nice to go back as a adult and see that everything is right where it should be.

Being a RCAF kid I lived in MJ from 4-6 years of age and then after a couple years elsewhere and 4 years in Germany we returned and I stayed from age 13 to 20. I have lived in Barcelona, Spain since I was 21. I will be coming at the beginning of August with 4 Catalan friends for a stay with my family who still live in the "Friendly City". The city has changed over all these years but the heart of the city remains the same. I really look forward to my visit.

My family moved to Moose Jaw in 1969 when my father was transferred to CFB Moose Jaw. He was a fireman in the RCAF and we had lived in Portage La Prairie, MB, Cold Lake, AB and Zweibrucken Germany prior to coming to Moose Jaw. We liked Moose Jaw a lot and my dad decided to retire from the RCAF so that we could stay there. He, along with my mother, worked at St. Anthony's nursing home for many years before they both retired in the early 90's. My parents are now both deceased and are both buried in Rosedale Cemetery. My older brother lives in Calgary now, and my younger sister lives in Regina . I attended Alexandria school in grade 1 (I think this school is gone now), spent grades 2-8 at CFB Moose Jaw school, and attended Riverview Collegiate from 1976-1980. The 25th reunion is being held from July 8-10.I attended SIAST after highschool and have worked in Manitoba, Saskatoon and now in Regina. There are still lots of classmates and people from the churches I attended in my youth that still live in Moose Jaw and would probably still know me or my family. Send me an E-mail - I would love to hear from you. I will always consider Moose Jaw as my hometown, no matter where I live.

I lived in Moose Jaw on two differnt occasions. My sister was born there in the late 1970's and then I returned in 1992 to attend Aldersgate College. (I was Jackie Love then) I always look back on thoes years with great fondness. For years I have missed walking out on the prairie. Walking out on the tundra isn't quite the same. I'm researching my family history and am trying to find out about my great uncle Robert (Bob) Ibison. He was born in 1882 and emigrated to Canada in the early part of the last century. I believe he settled in Moose Jaw (he was definitely there in 1920) and married someone called Sarah Ellen. They had a farm which was also a sub post office. Apparently Bob died some time around 1939. I don't know about his wife. I think they didn't have any children. Does anyone from the more senior members of the Moose Jaw community remember Bob? If so I'd very much like to hear from you. Thanks, Chris Allonby, England.

HI, my name is Cleo Taylor, my parents name were Francis ( TEX) Viola Faler, no one ever called my dad by his first name. He always wore tan kakies and a stetson hat with cowboy boots. He was there in in 1950 helping put in a pipeline. I was born there, because I was a premiee. My picuture was in the paper there. Does any one remember that, I would love a copy. I have a copy of the picture but not the news paper articale. I was the first Candian-American Baby born at that time in the first closed incubator they had there. Both of my parents are now dead. My father died when I was 4, my mother told me wonder stories about the town and how very nice they treated us. I wanted to thank the person who donated her milk to me since my mother had none, it saved my life, I only weighed just over 3lbs. Thanks to all of you I made it, I was in the incubater from July 21 till Sept. She told me they didn't want to release me then but she wanted to hold me, I was just barely 5 lbs. I do hope someone remembers all this or can look this up for me. I love my birth certificate it is so neat. My Dad had a new 1950 GMC truck. Mom said that there were people that wanted to give me gifts but we had to leave before they were given to us.I hope to travel to Canada and come visit, but am not able to now because of funds, but maybe someday soon. The gifts she said was a hudson bay by a Mounted Policeman, and a jacket from another, does anyone remember these, I would like to thank them even though I didn't receive them. Just knowing they wanted to give us those gifts is an honor I will always remember. Thanks Again, Cleo Faler Taylor

Greetings and Salutations:Was born in M.J. 1940. Attended Westmount public school and then M.J.Technical High School. Lived on the 1200 block of Coteau street. Played every sport you could imagine during those years. Remember a number of places that are unlikely to be there now.
  1. Golden West Drive In Theatre - North Hill
  2. Princess and exchange cafe.
  3. The old Arena Rink which was on Ross street and Centeral Collegiate which was handy to the rink. Name has been changed I understand.
  4. Can name you all my teachers from Westmount school including the music teacher - Penelope Gillian. I remember Mr. Peacock, Hub Gutheridge, Mr. Snell (health) teacher. Mr. Moon, Ms. Olga Wasley Nee (Mrs. Howard) Ms. Pushelburg, Miss Green, Mr. McIvor and Mr. Graham, as well as my cousin Mr. Peter Norys who was a supplement teacher for me in grade 7.
Still have a number of relatives who live in M.J. but have not been back since my father (Peter) passed away in 1962. Moved to Vancouver in 1954 and finished my education at Vancouver Technical School. Worked for C.P. Steamships and C.P.R. and joined the Navy in 1959. Sailed my entire career out of Halifax and retired in 1990 as C.P.O. Comtech. Total of 32 years. Worked for the Canadian Patrol Figrate programme with Saint John Shipbuilding Ltd. as Quality Assurance Inspector of Satellite Communications and Weapons Systems until completion of that programme. Planning trip back to visit relatives and see just how much the place has changed. Hopefully, I shall hear from someone who once knew me and my sisters Jackie and Lill. Perhaps some have passed on and others have likely moved to other places for employment. In any case I would appreciate it if you could find the time to let me know you are still out there somewhere. And to my former teachers - Be advised you did make a difference, thank you. Thanks and Regards,Ronald J. Yaschuk Quispamsis, N.B. E2E 6B6
