Larry Wilson
Larry Wilson is one man who has made a big difference in the establishment of Moose Jaw's cultural centre. One of six children of Mae Wilson, a longtime local dance teacher, he was involved in singing, dancing and acting from an early age, first in Moose Jaw then in Winnipeg and New York, where he trained. He often appeared in productions at Winnipeg's Rainbow Stage and did radio dramas on the CBC. During World War Two he took part in Canadian army shows in Europe touring with the new comedy team of Wayne and Shuster. Mr. Wilson had always hoped to step forward and challenge Moose Javians to match his contribution, which was used by Moose Jaw Arts In Motion to purchase the Capitol Theatre for the cultural centre project. He also dreamed of attending the opening gala performance in the theatre. However, he passed away in early January of 2002 while vacationing in Mexico. Most of the remainder if his estate will be used to finance arts scholarships for needy Saskatchewan youth. Back to the Top Back to Cultural Centre Home Page |
